[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] POSCO and the Ministry of Health and Welfare are joining forces to foster positive values and improve awareness regarding marriage, childbirth, and family-friendly lives for future generations.
POSCO announced on the 9th that it signed a business agreement with the Ministry of Health and Welfare for the 'Future Generation Population Education Project.'
Accordingly, POSCO plans to collaborate for three years starting this year in the 'Population Education Teacher Lesson Contest' hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare. Since 2017, the Ministry has held this contest annually to enhance the expertise of elementary, middle, and high school teachers nationwide in population education and to actively discover and disseminate excellent population education cases applicable in school settings. This year, the contest has been renamed the 'National Early Childhood, Elementary, Middle, and High School Population Education Good Lesson Sharing Contest,' with POSCO participating and the Paichai University Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation overseeing the public-private-academic collaborative project.
The 2021 Population Education Good Lesson Sharing Contest has significantly expanded its participant eligibility, submission categories, and awards compared to last year. From this year, not only teachers conducting population education classes but also students from early childhood, elementary, middle, and high schools attending these classes can apply. New categories for population education material development and student outputs from population education classes have been added. In addition to the existing Minister of Health and Welfare Award, POSCO Chairman’s Award and POSCO Special Award have been introduced.
Applications for the 2021 Population Education Good Lesson Sharing Contest can be submitted via email until August 9, and the second round of submissions for those who pass the first round will be accepted from September 1 to October 4.
Yang Won-jun, Head of the Management Support Division, said, "It is very important to systematically support students, who are in the process of value formation, to understand population issues and develop family-friendly values through population education. We hope that this MOU signing will serve as a valuable catalyst to encourage participation from other companies and various sectors of society."
