IBK Industrial Bank Donates 500 Million KRW for Treatment Costs of Rare Disease SME Workers
[Asia Economy Reporter Jin-ho Kim] IBK Industrial Bank announced on the 8th that it has provided 500 million KRW in medical expenses to 140 families of small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) workers suffering from rare and intractable diseases.
To improve the welfare of SME workers, IBK established the IBK Happiness Sharing Foundation in 2006 and has contributed a total of 53.5 billion KRW in funds to date. The bank continues its social contribution activities by supporting medical expenses of 12.5 billion KRW for about 2,900 patients with rare, intractable, and severe diseases, and scholarships of 16 billion KRW for about 9,200 children of SME workers.
Yoon Jong-won, President of IBK, said, "We hope this medical expense support will bring some comfort to those who are struggling and exhausted from their battle with illness," adding, "We will continue various social contribution activities for SME workers and their families."
