Naver and Kakao QR Check-in Now Supports COVID-19 Vaccination Verification (Comprehensive)
[Asia Economy Reporter Bu Aeri] Starting from the 12th, COVID-19 vaccination certification will be available through the Naver app and KakaoTalk.
On the 8th, Naver announced that it will provide the 'COVID-19 Vaccination Certification Service' on the Naver app's electronic entry log (QR check-in) screen in cooperation with the Vaccination Response Promotion Team.
Earlier, in June last year, Naver became the first domestic internet company to introduce an electronic entry log system. From the 12th, a QR code including vaccination proof will be issued when entering facilities where the service is used.
It provides not only vaccination status confirmation but also detailed COVID-19 vaccine information. For vaccines requiring two or more doses, if only the first dose has been administered, it shows '1st dose'; if 14 days have not passed since completing vaccination, it shows 'Vaccination completed (within 14 days)', enhancing user convenience.
In addition, Naver operates the 'Our Neighborhood Vaccine Alert Service' that provides information on leftover vaccines. Since April, in cooperation with the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, it has been providing information such as pre-booking vaccination and prior notice of vaccination dates through Naver electronic documents.
It also systematically provides the nationwide and 17 metropolitan city and province vaccine vaccination status for the first time in Korea. Using vaccination performance data from the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, the vaccination status is updated once daily around 9:30 AM.
Han Seong-sook, CEO of Naver, said, "Naver is further advancing lifestyle-oriented services to provide various conveniences related to COVID-19," adding, "We hope that by successfully providing COVID-19 vaccination certification services, all citizens can overcome COVID-19 together."
Vaccination certification can also be done through KakaoTalk QR check-in.
By pressing 'Load Vaccination Information' on the KakaoTalk QR check-in screen and completing the consent process, vaccination information will be included in the QR code. Along with the QR code upgrade, a vaccination certificate is also issued and stored in the KakaoTalk Wallet.
Users can easily certify vaccination without opening a separate authentication app or carrying a paper certificate by using KakaoTalk QR check-in or the vaccination certificate when vaccination certification is required. The vaccination certificate displays information such as dose number, vaccine name, and vaccination date.
Users receiving an electronic entry log QR check-in for the first time can generate a QR code by pressing the QR check-in button in the KakaoTalk More tab and completing authentication and consent. The issued QR code can be conveniently displayed on the screen by using KakaoTalk's experimental Shake feature?shaking the phone twice after launching KakaoTalk?or by installing the smartphone widget.
Kakao also provides real-time inquiry of leftover COVID-19 vaccine quantities, same-day reservation services, and notifications when leftover vaccines occur after selecting a designated medical institution through the 'Leftover Vaccine' tab in KakaoTalk's # tab.
A Kakao representative stated, "We plan to cooperate with various organizations such as the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency to overcome COVID-19."
