Bucheon-si Issues Administrative Order for COVID-19 Testing of Academy Workers... Until the 19th of This Month
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Bucheon City in Gyeonggi Province has issued an administrative order from the 6th requiring all academy workers in the region to undergo COVID-19 diagnostic testing. The period is two weeks until the 19th, and they must receive at least one test at a temporary screening clinic.
The applicable facilities are academies registered with the Office of Education according to the Academy Act (1,259 locations as of last month), and all academy workers including instructors, general staff, and academy vehicle drivers are subject to this. However, private tutoring centers are excluded, and even academy workers who have completed all recommended vaccine doses or have passed two weeks after the first dose do not need to undergo diagnostic testing.
The testing is free of charge, and results are notified via text message 24 hours after testing.
If someone tests positive for COVID-19 without complying with the administrative order, a fine of up to 2 million KRW will be imposed according to the "Infectious Disease Prevention and Control Act." Additionally, the city plans to exercise its right of recourse to claim quarantine costs from businesses where confirmed cases occur due to violation of the order.
