Gallery M9 to Hold Opening Exhibition Starting from the 16th
[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] Gallery M9 announced on the 6th that it will hold its opening exhibition starting from the 16th.
The opening exhibition will be divided into two parts, featuring various paintings and sculptures by six invited artists. Part 1, "Contemplation in Time," will run from the 16th to August 11, and Part 2, "Contemplation in Space," will be held from August 13 to September 17. In Part 1, artists Kim Won-geun, Do Heung-rok, Park Seung-soon, and Chae Sung-pil will exhibit their works. In Part 2, artists Kim Woo-jin and Min Kyung-sook will present their works.
Part 1 will showcase 16 major works by sculptor Kim Won-geun, including his representative pieces Airport Man, Pure Man, Beauty and the Beast, as well as his new works Untact Man and Legend Boxer.
Stainless steel drawings by sculptor Do Heung-rok, who passed away three years ago, will also be exhibited. His wife, artist Naomi Gunji, donated a large number of his works to Yeong-eun Museum of Contemporary Art to share his artistic world with the public, highlighting his oeuvre.
The third invited artist, Park Seung-soon, actively exhibits while moving between France and Korea, showcasing a profound artistic world. His works are widely held by domestic and international art museums, museums, and the Korea Art Bank. Park Seung-soon studies color, surface, and spatial form, and based on this research, he works mainly on flat paintings, installations, and objects. His works are characterized by a sophisticated composition of the canvas with beauty inherent in the artist’s inner experiences, music, people, and cities.
In Part 2 of the opening exhibition held in August, the exhibition will continue with emerging artist Kim Woo-jin, who sculpted the work "Dear" purchased by BTS’s V and gained attention, and Min Kyung-sook, a master of apple paintings.
Starting in September, the classical program "Salon M9," in collaboration with music critic Ryu Tae-hyung, will commence.
