SK Sugar Gliders Participate in Environmental Protection Campaign 'Sanhaejinmi Plogging'
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyewon] The women's handball team SK Sugar Gliders, managed by SK Lubricants, participated in the environmental protection campaign "Sanhaejinmi (山海眞美) Plogging" conducted by SK Innovation.
Sanhaejinmi Plogging means "Protect the mountains (山) and seas (海) from plastic waste to create a truly (眞) beautiful (美) Earth." SK Innovation carries out this campaign as part of its practical ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management and efforts to solve environmental issues. Employees at nationwide business sites pick up plastic waste, which is then collected and upcycled into clothing and other items to be donated to vulnerable groups.
According to SK Innovation on the 4th, the SK Sugar Gliders team participated in Sanhaejinmi Plogging on the morning of the 2nd while conducting cycling and running training at Ttukseom Hangang Park. They decided to join the campaign because they agreed with the purpose of Sanhaejinmi Plogging, which not only achieves a twofold effect by combining training with environmental cleanup but also connects resource circulation to social value.
SK Sugar Gliders captain Cho Suyeon, who participated in Sanhaejinmi Plogging, said, "It's great because I can do it alongside my daily exercise and feel the reward of doing something good," adding, "I will continue to participate frequently with my teammates."
SK Sugar Gliders plan to continue Sanhaejinmi Plogging in July near Olympic Park, where the SK Handball Stadium is located, alongside their training. Additionally, at their home ground in Gwangmyeong City Stadium, they will lead the "No Plastic" campaign to protect the environment.
