Pearl Abyss' Black Desert Tops Steam MMORPG Sales Charts
[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] Pearl Abyss announced on the 2nd that its game Black Desert ranked first in sales in the MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game) genre on the world's largest game platform, Steam, in North America and Europe. This is the second achievement following the first-place ranking in sales and popularity since the direct service launch in North America and Europe last February.
A Pearl Abyss representative explained, "The simultaneous global release of the new classes 'Corsair' and the 'Summer Season' promotion contributed to the sales increase. After the new content update, new Black Desert Steam users increased by 500%."
In South Korea as well, new users increased by 157%, and returning users by 139%. New and returning users also rose significantly in Japan, Taiwan, Russia, and Turkey, while Thailand saw a 769% increase in new users, and Southeast Asia surged by 618%.

Pearl Abyss is also preparing to target the Chinese market. Previously, Black Desert Mobile received the 'Pan-Ho' game service license in China on the 28th of last month. Black Desert Mobile ranked third in the mobile game anticipation rankings on China’s largest gaming site, ‘17173’.
