74% of Gyeonggi Province Residents Say "Lee Jae-myung Administration Has Led Gyeonggi Province Well Over the Past 3 Years"
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Seventy-four percent of Gyeonggi Province residents evaluated the 7th term of the Gyeonggi provincial government, which marked its 3rd anniversary, as 'well done.'
Gyeonggi Province announced on the 1st that a public opinion survey on the 3rd anniversary of the 7th term was conducted from May 14 to 17 with 1,000 residents, and 74% of the residents positively evaluated whether Gyeonggi Province had done well over the past three years.
Positive evaluations exceeded the majority among all respondents, including by gender (men 73%, women 76%), age group (lowest 60s 62%, highest 40s 80%), and region (lowest Southern Adjacent Area 67%, highest Eastern Inland Area and Western Adjacent Area 77%). On the other hand, negative evaluations of 'did poorly' accounted for only 19%.
Expectations for the future operation of the 7th term provincial government were also high. In the 4th year of the term, 73% had a positive outlook that it would 'do better than now.' In contrast, only 14% responded that it would 'do worse than now.'
Regarding the evaluation by sector of the major policies promoted by Gyeonggi Province over the past three years, the positive evaluation of COVID-19 response was the highest at 76%. This was followed by ▲health and public medical care (75%) ▲welfare policy (74%) ▲disaster safety and public security (71%) ▲improvement of bus services such as public buses and enhancement of transportation convenience (70%) ▲realization of a fair society such as clean valleys and Baedal Spick (68%) ▲economic revitalization and job creation such as Gyeonggi local currency and public jobs (67%) ▲environmental improvement projects such as fine dust seasonal management system (66%) ▲regional balanced development such as relocation of public institutions (65%) ▲youth policies such as basic income for youth (63%) ▲labor rights protection projects such as support for industrial accident insurance premiums for delivery workers (62%).
However, cultural arts and content projects (57%), housing stability and real estate policies (44%), and inter-Korean peace cooperation (44%) received relatively low scores.
Gyeonggi Province Governor Lee Jae-myung said, "The policies promoted by Gyeonggi Province over the past three years have returned with high support from residents," and promised, "We will continue to prove through action, not words, to create a daily life where residents' basic rights are protected, such as expanding economic basic rights, realizing a fair society, and respecting labor."

This survey was conducted by Gyeonggi Province through a telephone interview method commissioned to the polling agency Korea Research Co., Ltd. The confidence level is 95%, and the sampling error is ±3.1 percentage points.
