The district announced that after installing the facility, it conducted joint on-site inspections and mock drills with related organizations over two weeks, making thorough preparations for the smooth operation of the vaccination center.
At the '2nd Vaccination Center,' vaccinations will be administered targeting Pfizer vaccine recipients according to government guidelines, aiming for 600 vaccinations per day.
First, vaccinations will begin sequentially, starting with those aged 60 to 74 who have not completed AstraZeneca vaccinations due to increased pre-bookings.
The operating hours are from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays, staffed by 4 doctors, 8 nurses, and 20 administrative support personnel. Separate teams for vaccine management and adverse reaction response are also organized to ensure safety management and preparedness for emergencies.
Meanwhile, the district opened the 1st Vaccination Center at the Gwanak-gu Citizens' Sports Complex on April 15, focusing on rapid vaccination for about 34,000 people, including seniors aged 75 and older and daycare center residents. As of June 28, the first-dose vaccination rate reached 96.3%, with about 29,000 of the 30,000 consenting individuals having completed vaccination.
Mayor Park Junhee has been visiting the vaccination sites daily since the establishment of the 1st center, encouraging citizens participating in vaccinations and practicing communicative administration.
To honor seniors who have completed vaccination, the district has been distributing 'vaccination badges' directly on-site since June 21. Seniors aged 60 and older who were vaccinated earlier can receive badges by visiting their local community centers, while those aged 75 and older will have badges delivered directly by their neighborhood leaders.
Although the vaccination badge does not serve as direct proof of vaccination, it is expected to encourage unvaccinated individuals to participate in vaccination and support the daily life recovery of those who have completed vaccination.
From the 1st, seniors who have completed COVID-19 vaccination will have freer access to senior centers. Seniors who are 14 days past their first dose can participate in face-to-face programs, and those who have completed the second dose can participate in programs and have lunch at the senior centers from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. However, except for unavoidable situations such as eating, masks must be worn at all times, and unvaccinated individuals are restricted from using the facilities.
A district official stated that thorough preparations, including quarantine management, are being made to ensure seniors can safely use the senior centers.
