The First Policy of Jeonnam Autonomous Police Committee is the 'Safety Measures to Prevent Crime Victimization of the Elderly'
[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The first policy of the Jeonnam Autonomous Police Committee was approved as the ‘Comprehensive Safety Measures for Preventing Elderly Crime Victimization.’
The Jeonnam Autonomous Police Committee held its 3rd extraordinary meeting on the 30th, a day before the full implementation of the autonomous police system, listened to the secretariat’s work report, and announced on the 30th that it deliberated and approved the ‘Comprehensive Safety Measures for Preventing Elderly Crime Victimization’ as its first policy.
The comprehensive safety measures for preventing elderly crime victimization reflect the characteristics of Jeonnam, a super-aged society where the population aged 65 and over accounted for 23.8% as of the end of May.
The main contents include ▲ strengthening on-site activities to find and protect elderly people in crisis ▲ establishing a response system for preventing and early detection of missing elderly persons ▲ carrying out community cooperation activities to protect elderly people living alone.
They plan to proactively respond to crimes targeting the elderly and significantly reduce victimization.
The province and the autonomous police committee also held a promotion appointment ceremony for 11 autonomous police officers (1 superintendent, 8 inspectors, 1 sergeant, 1 corporal) on the same day.
Until now, the appointment authority for police officers did not belong to local governments, but with the implementation of the autonomous police system this year, part of the appointment authority for autonomous police has been delegated to the governor and the committee.
The appointment ceremony was attended by Song Sangrak, Vice Governor of Jeonnam Province, Jo Manhyung, Chairman of the Jeonnam Autonomous Police Committee, and members of the autonomous police committee.
Chairman Jo Manhyung said, “Considering the characteristics of Jeonnam as a super-aged society, we deliberated and approved the comprehensive safety measures for preventing elderly crime victimization as the first policy. We will continue to do our best to discover Jeonnam-type policies.”
