Kangwon Land and Korea Environment Corporation Sign MOU to Promote 'Eco-Friendly Future Focused Projects'
[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] Kangwon Land announced on the 30th that it signed a business agreement with the Korea Environment Corporation at the High1 Grand Hotel to establish a cooperative relationship in the fields of environment and energy and to promote eco-friendly future-focused projects.
The main contents of the agreement include ▲discovering eco-friendly future-focused projects for sustainable growth ▲building green energy infrastructure for low-carbon green growth ▲improving waste treatment methods at the resort. Both organizations pledged efforts to establish a sustainable resource circulation system through this agreement.
Through this agreement, Kangwon Land will receive support in manpower and know-how from the Korea Environment Corporation to introduce eco-friendly treatment technologies for organic and inorganic waste generated at the resort, realizing a sustainable circular economy. In line with the government's Green New Deal policy, it plans to actively discover eco-friendly energy and green businesses.
Additionally, Kangwon Land will actively cooperate in energy and climate change response projects promoted by the Korea Environment Corporation, working proactively and closely to address national greenhouse gas reduction and carbon neutrality challenges. Furthermore, both organizations agreed to actively cooperate on matters requiring mutual collaboration, such as environmental conservation social contribution activities reflecting the characteristics of each institution.
Lee Sam-geol, CEO of Kangwon Land, said, “Kangwon Land has been operating casinos, hotels, condos, and golf courses by environmentally restoring the damaged abandoned mining areas and has made multifaceted efforts to create an eco-friendly green resort. Through this agreement, we will introduce various policies and new technologies to reduce environmental impact and energy consumption, presenting a model case of an eco-friendly green resort and fulfilling a leading role.”

Meanwhile, Kangwon Land operates an in-house venture, the Resource Upcycle TF, which naturally treats food waste generated within the resort complex using black soldier fly larvae, an environmental purification insect. Through this, efforts are being made to reduce costs and create new added value from by-products produced during the treatment process.
