Seungro Lee, Seongbuk-gu Mayor, Awards Employees and Departments for Outstanding Civil Complaint Handling Cases
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Seongbuk-gu (Mayor Lee Seung-ro) conducted awards for employees and departments with excellent civil complaint handling cases to boost morale and provide opportunities for indirect learning by sharing outstanding cases, in line with the slogan of the 7th elected term, "Finding Answers at the Future Sites of Seongbuk."
Donam 1-dong Community Service Center has been conducting a poverty crisis monitoring project by regularly visiting welfare recipients to understand their chronic diseases and living patterns. During a welfare check on a 77-year-old elderly living alone, Mr. Kim, who was unreachable by phone, staff immediately visited and found him collapsed due to hypoglycemic shock, saving his life through prompt action.
Additionally, in a redevelopment zone where repeated complaints about illegal dumping of household waste and safety accidents were received, public-private cooperation led to the establishment of a safety network, safety patrols, voluntary cleaning and disinfection, installation of barriers, and crackdown on illegal dumping to resolve the complaints. Another case involved a land parcel shared by 16 co-owners for 60 years; over 1 year and 8 months, resident briefings, cadastral subdivision and liquidation, and inheritance registration for deceased owners were conducted to divide the shared land according to the building’s current status.
Other cases selected as excellent included expanding the sales locations of special standard garbage bags, which were previously limited to community centers causing many complaints about residents’ time and distance inconvenience, by revising the ordinance to increase from one sales point per dong to an average of 10 per dong, totaling 208 locations in the area, among six outstanding cases.
Seongbuk-gu Mayor Lee Seung-ro stated, “Much of the district office’s work involves handling civil complaints, and I have always been concerned about boosting the morale of the employees handling these complaints. This led to the initiative to award outstanding civil complaint handling staff.”
