Sejong, 223,000 Vaccinated by September... Priority Given to Education and Childcare Workers
[Asia Economy (Sejong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Sejong City announced on the 29th that it will conduct COVID-19 vaccinations for approximately 223,000 citizens aged 18 to 59 until the end of September.
Earlier, the city carried out vaccinations for seniors aged 60 and above and essential social workers during the first and second quarters.
By the end of September, which marks the completion of the third quarter vaccinations, the city expects to have completed the first dose of vaccination for all citizens aged 18 and above within the jurisdiction.
In particular, about 4,100 high school seniors and school staff will receive the Pfizer vaccine at vaccination centers starting from the 19th of next month, and university entrance exam candidates will also complete their vaccinations in August to prepare for the College Scholastic Ability Test.
Staff and caregivers at daycare centers, kindergartens, elementary schools, and middle schools are also expected to receive vaccinations with Pfizer or Moderna vaccines next month.
Additionally, in the second half of the year, unvaccinated individuals aged 60 and above, essential social workers under 30, and healthcare workers will be prioritized for vaccination at vaccination centers through advance reservations.
By age group, about 46,000 citizens in their 50s will start vaccination from the 26th of next month after online advance reservations, with sequential vaccinations proceeding in the order of ages 55-59, then 50-54.
In August, advance reservations will begin for approximately 176,600 people aged 40 and below (18-49), and vaccinations will be conducted according to the reservation schedule, aiming to complete the first dose for about 252,000 Sejong citizens, which is 70% of the population, by the end of September.
