The total of 12 types of home appliances that can be managed through SmartThings Energy include air conditioners, air purifiers, refrigerators, kimchi refrigerators, washing machines, dryers, dishwashers, microwaves, ovens, robot vacuum cleaners, shoe dressers, and air dressers.
By applying the newly introduced home energy data solution, users can check daily, monthly, and hourly power consumption data up to the previous day, electricity bill information, and tiered rate levels through SmartThings Energy. Additionally, the power consumption of each appliance for the current day is also provided.
Moreover, if it is predicted that the preset tiered rate level will be reached, the system automatically controls the air conditioner to power-saving mode to prevent excessive electricity charges. The solution also includes a feature that uses smartphone location information to send notifications to the smartphone if the air conditioner is left on when family members are not at home, suggesting to turn it off.
The Home Energy Solution service is scheduled to launch within the second half of the year, and households equipped with KEPCO's AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure) smart meters can register their customer number from 'KEPCO Energy Marketplace EN:TER' in the Samsung SmartThings Energy service.
