Opening of Seongdong-gu Childcare Landmark 'Ai Sarang Complex Cultural Center'
July 1 Opening of Seongdong Ai Sarang Complex Cultural Center: A New Landmark for Childcare... Featuring Music Kids Studio, Shared Childcare Space, Digital Art Zone, Art Play Zone, Media Art Zone, Multipurpose Hall, and More
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seongdong-gu (Mayor Jeong Wono) announced the opening of the ‘Seongdong Aisarang Complex Cultural Center’ on July 1, marking the birth of a new childcare landmark facility.
The Seongdong Aisarang Complex Cultural Center is an infant and toddler-focused cultural experience center where families can enjoy, learn, and experience together. With a total floor area of 1,292.51㎡ and a building area of 458.55㎡, the four-story building is composed of various facilities by floor, including a Music Kids Studio, Shared Childcare Space, Digital Art Zone, Art Play Zone, Media Art Zone, and Multipurpose Hall, allowing parents and children to enjoy leisure activities together.
From a kids cafe where children can freely play to art and science experience rooms, the center supports creative play experiences where children can learn while playing and engage in activities and play suitable for child development.
In recent years, the Kumho and Oksu areas have completed redevelopment projects and formed large-scale apartment complexes, increasing the proportion of parents with infants and toddlers residing in the area.
Accordingly, the district established a basic construction plan in June 2019, considering the population of infants, toddlers, and parents in their 30s and 40s in the area, and promoted the creation of a creative complex space nearby where children and parents can enjoy together.
To save energy, zero-energy building technology was applied, and cultural facilities were created following the Living SOC Complex Guidelines. From the planning stage, a task force and residents participated, listening carefully to the stories of actual users.
In June last year, the name ‘Seongdong Aisarang Complex Cultural Center’ was finalized through a public contest for residents, and construction began in August of the same year. The center opened to mark the third anniversary of the 7th local government administration, and a district official explained that it will become a childcare hub where all families raising children can communicate and enjoy together through the Seongdong Aisarang Complex Cultural Center.
Since 2019, the district has provided professional and systematic one-stop services from pregnancy preparation to childbirth and childcare through the ‘Seongdong Aimom Health Center,’ which opened in 2019. Since June last year, it has also operated the city’s first household care service for pregnant women (providing free cleaning and laundry services for four visits, four hours each, to pregnant women’s homes) among Seoul’s autonomous districts.
From April this year, the district launched ‘Seongdong Yukatoktok (TALK TALK),’ a service that allows consultation on various childcare information such as pregnancy, childbirth, and childcare all at once, leading efforts to make Seongdong a great place for raising children.
