View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Soyoung] Kim Jong-in, former emergency committee chairman of the People Power Party, commented on former Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol, who has been embroiled in the X-file controversy, saying, "If he is confident, he can just ignore it and move on. It is up to the people to judge."
In an interview with YTN News on the 24th, Kim said, "During a presidential election, when someone takes the lead, various negative stories are often used as a means to bring them down."
He added, "Yoon Seok-yeol did not gain support as a politician, but rather the people supported him because of his personal attitude. Based on that, if he strengthens his position more concretely and maintains or increases his support, naturally his influence will grow. There is no need to think otherwise."
Regarding the decline in Yoon's approval ratings, he pointed out, "Recently, Yoon Seok-yeol's attitude has been somewhat ambiguous, so there has been a slight drop in his support."
About the ruling party's presidential candidate, Kim predicted, "Governor Lee Jae-myung has prepared the most. Based on the current situation, it seems the Democratic Party's candidate position will flow toward Governor Lee."
When asked about the opposition candidate to face Governor Lee, he replied, "There is no one yet who can be clearly identified as the opposition candidate."
Regarding speculation that he might serve as the People Power Party's campaign committee chairman during the presidential election phase, he drew a line, saying, "I don't know why such talk is coming up. Once the presidential candidate is confirmed, the candidate will decide how to select the campaign committee chairman."
