'Government Innovation' Accelerates with Customized Consulting... Ministry of the Interior and Safety Supports 12 Agencies in 3 Areas
'2021 Government Innovation Consulting' Promotion... Government Innovation Consulting Team Meeting
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on the 23rd that it will promote the ‘2021 Government Innovation Consulting’ to provide customized support for government innovation tasks being pursued by various agencies.
Government Innovation Consulting, first conducted in 2019 to create innovation outcomes that the public can feel, has been implemented centered on agencies by reflecting the results of the government innovation evaluation. Since last year, consulting target agencies have been selected and conducted focusing on core government innovation tasks.
This consulting will be conducted on 9 tasks across 3 areas: public participation, public service innovation, and working methods, aligned with major government innovation promotion areas. The Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport were selected for the public participation area, while the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, and the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety were selected for the public service innovation area. For the working methods area, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the National Police Agency, the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, the Defense Acquisition Program Administration, the Fair Trade Commission, and the Rural Development Administration were selected to receive customized consulting on work automation and organizational culture innovation.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety explained that the consulting target tasks were selected considering the possibility of performance creation, potential for expansion to other ministries, and the willingness of the agencies to participate, among the agencies’ government innovation implementation plans.
The consulting will be conducted over four months by expert committee members who will visit the target agencies directly or use video conferences. This year, a new ‘organizational culture innovation’ area has been established to diagnose problems and derive improvement tasks, supporting organizational culture improvement processes tailored to the characteristics of each agency to establish a rational public service culture.
This consulting focuses on presenting practical alternatives that can help agencies, such as solutions to difficulties in innovation tasks and specific policy and service development plans. To this end, private experts with actual experience in related fields and a high understanding of the tasks will be appointed as consulting committee members to enhance the sense of relevance.
Meanwhile, tasks that achieve results through consulting will be shared and disseminated to each agency by submitting them to various excellent case competitions for awards or by including them in the government innovation top 100 casebook. The Ministry of the Interior and Safety newly organized the 2021 Government Innovation Consulting Team and held a meeting on the same day to promote successful consulting.
