The Smart Farm Korea Expo, hosted by Gyeongnam Province and Changwon City, presents a future vision for future agriculture, smart factory equipment and devices, urban agriculture, farming and livestock equipment for return-to-farming and return-to-village movements, and agricultural product distribution, operating about 350 booths from 150 companies. In Gyeongnam, 10 cities and counties including Hapcheon-gun are participating.
The county operates two booths to promote ‘Jakyak Mi-in’ using peony, which is being developed as a special crop, two types of peony cosmetics (sunscreen, hand cream) rich in vitamin E with excellent skin soothing effects, and a promotional hall for pioneering the gift Korean orchid market, which is being developed as a key industry, attracting high interest and response from domestic and international buyers visiting the expo.
Recently, with the continuous decrease in agricultural and rural population and progressing super-aging, labor force is weakening, and with the inflow of labor due to return-to-farming and return-to-village by the baby boom generation, the demand for labor-saving agriculture is increasing. Hapcheon-gun is focusing on discovering various new agricultural income sources.
