President Moon Secures "Two Rabbits" of Economic Cooperation and Dokdo in Spain
[Spain (Barcelona) = Joint Press Corps = (Seoul) Reporter Lee Ji-eun] President Moon Jae-in, who is on a state visit to Spain, said on the 16th (local time), "I hope that businesspeople from both Korea and Spain will become the best business partners and jointly lead the global economy."
On the 16th (local time), President Moon attended the 'Annual Forum Opening Dinner of the Economic Association' held in Barcelona and stated, "If we share experiences and know-how in fields where each has strengths, we can lead the post-COVID era together."
President Moon explained, "Spain is a leading country in eco-friendly energy with a renewable energy ratio close to 40%, and Korea possesses advanced technology in semiconductors and information and communication technology, which are core to the digital economy, and is ahead in future cars, batteries, and the hydrogen economy."
He also added that based on the signing of memorandums of understanding (MOUs) in Industry 4.0, startups, and clean energy sectors, practical exchanges and cooperation between companies of the two countries will accelerate.
With President Moon's state visit to Spain, the bilateral relationship was elevated to a 'strategic partnership.' Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hwang Hee told reporters on site that they are considering signing a 'Travel Bubble' agreement with Spain.
The Travel Bubble is a system that provides benefits including quarantine exemptions for mutual entrants to promote travel.

Additionally, President Moon visited the Spanish Senate Library that day and viewed the Joseon Kingdom Map. This map, published by an 18th-century French geographer, marks Dokdo as Korean territory. President Moon expressed gratitude to the library, saying, "It is a very precious historical document showing that Dokdo is Korean territory."
