On the 11th, the Criminal Division 21-1 of the Seoul Central District Court (Presiding Judges Ma Seong-yeong, Kim Sang-yeon, Jang Yong-beom) selected Cho’s daughter, Cho Min, and son, Cho Won, as witnesses during the continuation of the trial involving former Minister Cho and his wife, as well as Roh Hwan-jung, director of Busan Medical Center.
The defense attorneys opposed the court’s decision. They have criticized the prosecution’s move to have the couple tried together as an attempt to "humiliate" them.
In response, the prosecution argued, "Most of the incidents in this case occurred within the domain controlled by Cho Min and Cho Won," adding, "If they are not summoned on the grounds of exercising their right to refuse testimony, there is a concern that the obligation to do their best in proving the substance of the criminal case will be neglected."
Cho’s daughter is expected to testify at the hearing scheduled for the morning of the 25th. The date for questioning Cho’s son will be set later.
