Yeonggwang-gun 'Gas Facility Improvement Project for Island Areas' Promotion
[Yeonggwang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jeonseong] Jeollanam-do Yeonggwang-gun (Governor Kim Junsung) announced on the 11th that it will promote the ‘Island Area LP Gas Facility Improvement Project’ to prevent gas accidents by improving aging gas facilities and distributing safety devices in LPG-using households in island areas.
This project is aimed at improving aging gas facilities in island areas that are struggling with facility improvements due to the cost burden, despite the mandatory replacement of LP gas supply hoses with metal piping.
The county plans to invest 40 million won in budget to fully support 111 households in island areas exposed to gas accident risks by replacing with metal piping, installing safety devices (timer cock), and installing LPG container shades free of charge.
To this end, since March, applications have been accepted at Nakwol-myeon Office to select beneficiary households targeting island areas, in accordance with the ‘Ministry of Industry Project Operation Regulations and Project Implementation Guidelines.’
Recently, the county completed the selection of contractors through public announcement and evaluation committee review by the Korea Gas Safety Corporation, and the facility improvement construction is scheduled to start in mid-this month and be completed by September.
