Gangdong-gu Supports 'Youth-Friendly Part-Time Job Sites'
Survey for Selecting Part-time Job Friendly Workplaces from June 1 to 30 ... Certification Plaques, Customer Hygiene Supplies, and One-Year Promotion Support for Selected Part-time Job Friendly Workplaces
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon) is promoting the ‘Youth-Friendly Part-Time Job Support Project’ to create a better working environment for teenagers.
The district established the basis for supporting youth-friendly part-time job workplaces last year to ensure that young workers are not treated unfairly and can work with peace of mind. It has selected and supported 12 workplaces so far.
Youth-friendly part-time job workplaces must meet five certification criteria: ▲writing labor contracts ▲paying at least the minimum wage ▲providing weekly holiday pay for working 15 hours or more per week ▲guaranteeing respectful treatment ▲recommendations from the workers themselves. Each year, workplaces meeting these criteria are selected after on-site inspections by Gangdong-gu Alba Keepers and a review process.
Workplaces selected as youth-friendly part-time job sites receive a certification plaque, support for purchasing customer hygiene and convenience items (50,000 KRW annually), public utility fees and volume-based waste bags (240,000 KRW annually), and promotional support for one year.
From June 1 to 30, a recommendation survey is being conducted to select the 2021 youth-friendly part-time job workplaces.
Participants include teenagers and people in their 20s who have worked part-time in Gangdong-gu businesses within the last five months, as well as business owners who meet the youth-friendly workplace certification criteria. However, directly operated stores run by headquarters and youth employment prohibited businesses such as PC rooms, karaoke rooms, and pubs are excluded.
The survey consists of 16 items for part-time workers (13 items for business owners), including the number of part-time jobs, job details, and whether the youth-friendly workplace certification requirements are met. To enhance convenience, the survey is conducted online.
