He was arrested in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, last January while being wanted by Interpol, and was extradited to Argentina on the 9th (Korean time). He is accused of various crimes including threats, theft, and domestic violence. He is being held in C?rdoba prison and is scheduled to stand trial starting in July. Laura Bitistelli, the prosecutor in charge of Cabrera, explained, "The court determined that he was trying to avoid trial and ordered that he be tried while in custody."

Cabrera is a ‘major champion’ who won the 2007 US Open and the 2009 Masters on the PGA Tour. Born in a private home and starting as a caddie, he is a self-made figure who entered the PGA Tour. After securing his third PGA Tour victory at the 2014 Greenbrier Classic, he has since experienced a drought of titles. Known by the nickname ‘El Pato,’ which means ‘the duck’ in Spanish, he was loved by the Argentine people but has now become a suspect.
