According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, this summer's average temperature is expected to be higher than usual, with an increase in the number of heatwave days, raising safety concerns such as heat-related illnesses among vulnerable groups, especially elderly people living alone.
Accordingly, the city health center has designated eight disaster helpers consisting of nurses and social workers to provide comprehensive measures aimed at reducing health damage caused by heatwaves. These measures target about 3,900 vulnerable households and include basic health management such as blood pressure and blood sugar checks, guidance on cooling shelters, health check-in calls, and information on heatwave prevention health management rules and behavioral guidelines.
Additionally, among the home visit health management recipients, 500 elderly people living alone and chronic patients will be selected to receive a "Sun Avoidance Kit" (including ion drink powder, cooling scarves, cooling arm sleeves, antibacterial masks, etc.).
