President Moon: "It is significant that domestic workers are now protected under labor law"
Cabinet Meeting Directs Follow-up Measures on the 'Domestic Worker Employment Improvement Act'... Also Urges Coordination for Carbon Neutrality Act to be Passed in June National Assembly
[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] President Moon Jae-in stated on the 8th, during a Cabinet meeting he presided over, that the promulgation of the 'Act on the Improvement of Employment of Domestic Workers' is significant in that domestic workers are now protected under labor law.
Park Kyung-mi, the Blue House spokesperson, conveyed President Moon's instructions from the Cabinet meeting through a written briefing on the same day.
President Moon said, "It is meaningful that domestic workers are incorporated into the legal system and receive protection under labor law," adding, "There may be some confusion in the early stages of implementation, so please ensure thorough follow-up measures to allow this law to be properly established."
President Moon received a report from the Minister of Employment and Labor on the 'Evaluation and Improvement Plan of Financially Supported Job Projects' and pointed out, "In new technology and new industry fields, especially software, artificial intelligence, and semiconductor sectors, advanced companies report a shortage of manpower, while young people face job-seeking difficulties, resulting in a mismatch." President Moon urged, "The more successful the workforce training is, the more it benefits both companies and young people, so please make special efforts."
President Moon received a report from the Minister of Government Legislation on 'Legislative Achievements of the Moon Jae-in Administration and Future Legislative Promotion Strategies' and said, "Many important legislations related to national tasks have been enacted so far," adding, "Please closely coordinate between the ruling party and the government to ensure that livelihood bills protecting citizens' lives during the COVID-19 situation and carbon neutrality-related bills can be passed in the June extraordinary session of the National Assembly."
President Moon received a report from the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs on the '2021 P4G Seoul Green Future Summit' and evaluated, "The P4G Summit was an international multilateral environmental conference held in our country, successfully concluded with the participation of the largest number of heads of state."
