[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] The Dementia Safety Center in Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 8th that it will conduct dementia prevention education and cognitive screening tests for 1,040 participants of the Geochang Senior Club senior job project over six weeks until July 16.
The purpose is to improve negative perceptions of dementia and reduce dementia prevalence through early detection.
The program proceeds in the order of dementia partner education, cognitive screening tests, and watching dementia-related videos. The educational content includes the definition and symptoms of dementia, the role of dementia partners, dementia prevention rules, and provides various quizzes and videos to stimulate interest.
An elderly participant who attended the education said, "I used to feel vaguely afraid when I thought of dementia, but today I learned what dementia is and how to prevent it to slow its progression, which makes me really happy," adding, "I plan to take this test every year from now on."
