Gochang-gun Expands Eligibility for 'Postpartum and Newborn Health Care Service' Support
[Gochang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Gochang-gun, Jeonbuk is expanding support for the ‘Postpartum Mother and Newborn Health Management Support Project’ to reduce the burden on families with newborns and help healthy postpartum recovery.
According to the county on the 8th, this project provides services such as postpartum care (nutrition management, edema management, etc.), newborn health care, and household activity support for mothers and newborns through visits by professionally trained health managers.
The support target has been expanded from households with a standard median income of 120% or less as of the 22nd of last month to households with a standard median income of 160% or less (7.8 million KRW per month for a family of four).
The amount of support and the self-pay amount vary depending on the type of fetus, birth order, income level, and usage period.
Service applications can be made from 40 days before the expected delivery date to within 30 days after delivery through the health center in charge of the mother’s address, Bokjiro, or Government24’s Mampyeonhanimsin.
The county is also running its own project called ‘Postpartum Mother and Newborn Health Management Self-Payment Support,’ which supports 90% of the self-payment amount for mothers who have had an address in the county for one year prior to the birth date and newborns registered in the county.

Choi Hyunsook, head of the health center, said, “We expect that the expansion of this support project will alleviate the economic burden on families with newborns,” and added, “We will take the lead in making Gochang a happy place for childbirth and childcare.”
