Hyundai Motor Appoints Carlos Servin as North America Chief Cost Optimization Officer
Nissan, Ford, Volvo, and Others: 30 Years of Experience
[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] Hyundai Motor Company, which is breaking record-high sales in the U.S. market, has appointed a new Chief Cost Officer for the North American region to accelerate efforts to improve cost structure and profitability.
According to industry sources on the 7th, Hyundai Motor America (HMA) appointed Carlos Servin as Chief Cost Optimization Officer on the 4th (local time). HMA stated regarding this appointment, "Chief Servin will lead all cost optimization strategies and execution across North and South America," adding, "He will improve Hyundai's efficiency through benchmarking and implementing best practices for localization, supplier evaluation, and cost optimization."
This appointment follows Hyundai's '2025 Strategy' announced in 2019. At that time, Hyundai revealed plans to innovate the overall cost structure, including establishing a cost competitiveness system to secure profitability. As part of this, the North American Cost Optimization Committee was established last year. This committee includes Hyundai's U.S., Canada, and Mexico subsidiaries, the U.S. Technology Center, Genesis, Hyundai Mobis, and Hyundai Glovis U.S. subsidiaries.

Chief Cost Optimization Officer Servin, who will lead the cost optimization efforts, has accumulated 30 years of experience in finance and marketing at global automakers such as Ford, Volvo, and Nissan. He has worked across North America, South America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, India, China, and Asia. At Nissan, he also served as Vice President responsible for marketing, sales, and industrial operations, achieving notable results. Jose Munoz, Head of the North American Region, stated, "Chief Servin's deep knowledge of the automotive industry, strong analytical skills, diverse cultural experience, and entrepreneurial mindset will drive Hyundai's cost optimization efforts in the North American region."
