Wando-gun is an island area consisting of 55 inhabited islands. To facilitate the movement of elderly residents in the island area who need to visit vaccination centers using ferries and buses, the county operates shuttle buses and supports safe vaccination.
Meanwhile, for elderly residents aged 75 and older who have difficulty moving due to mobility issues and live on remote islands making it difficult to visit vaccination centers or designated medical institutions, the county has prepared measures to provide convenience to residents and improve vaccination rates.
The county has continuously requested the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency to allow vaccination at public health centers in island areas.
As a result, even without visiting vaccination centers, unvaccinated residents aged 75 and older and residents aged 60 to 74 in 12 eup and myeon areas can receive the AstraZeneca vaccine at public health centers.
The vaccination period is from the 7th to the 18th, and vaccination is possible after prior manual registration or same-day visit registration and preliminary examination.
For residents who cannot use public health centers due to long distances or inconvenient transportation, Cheongsan Yeoseo-do will provide Janssen vaccinations using naval ships from the 14th to the 30th after scheduling with the Navy. Deokwoo-do will use administrative ships on the 11th, and Cheongsan Daemo-do on the 15th, accompanied by a medical doctor for preliminary examination, to receive AstraZeneca vaccinations at health clinics.
After vaccination, adverse reactions will be monitored as at vaccination centers, and the county plans to establish communication networks with helicopters and coast guard vessels to respond promptly in case of adverse reactions.
