On the 2nd, the Korea Meteorological Administration forecasted that due to a low-pressure system moving northeast near Shanghai, China, rain will begin in Jeju Island from the night of the 2nd, spreading to the Seoul metropolitan area, Chungcheong region, and southern regions by the morning of the 3rd, and expanding nationwide by the afternoon.
Daytime temperatures on the 3rd are expected to fall by about 4 to 8 degrees compared to the previous day due to rain clouds, with morning lows ranging from 14 to 19 degrees Celsius and daytime highs from 20 to 25 degrees Celsius depending on the region.
The rain will mostly stop by the night of the 3rd, but in Gangwon, northern Chungbuk, and the Gyeongbuk region, it will continue until the early morning of the 4th. Expected precipitation amounts are 30 to 80 mm in Jeju Island (excluding northern and western parts), 10 to 40 mm in the central region, northern Gyeongbuk, southern coastal areas, Jeju Island (northern and western parts), and the five western islands, and 5 to 20 mm in other parts of the country including Ulleungdo and Dokdo.
From early morning to morning on the 3rd, strong rain exceeding 20 mm per hour accompanied by gusts and thunder/lightning is expected in Jeju Island as rain clouds develop strongly, and in the afternoon, thunder and lightning will occur in southern Gangwon, northern Chungbuk, and northern Gyeongbuk.
