On the 1st, POSCO Energy announced that Jeong Ki-seop, President of POSCO Energy, and over 20 employees conducted a mural painting volunteer activity at Gajwa Middle School near the LNG Combined Power Plant in Seo-gu, Incheon, to create a safe school commute route.
This volunteer activity was carried out based on the company's social contribution brand 'Energy Dream,' which means bringing vitality and hope to everyday life, aiming to promote the company's eco-friendly policies. On this day, employees combined POSCO Energy's representative social contribution program of mural painting with the Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) technique to create streets where local residents, including students, can safely walk.
CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design) refers to urban environmental design for crime prevention. Painting murals in dark alleys creates a bright environment and helps prevent crime occurrences.
The school commute route at Gajwa Middle School, selected as the mural painting site, is a path frequently used by children going to and from school. POSCO Energy cleaned the walls around the commute route and created a 'mural street where children want to walk safely' through murals containing eco-friendly messages.
Since 2013, POSCO Energy has conducted mural painting volunteer activities more than twice a year in the Incheon area, and since 2017, it has been creating mural streets focusing on high-risk areas recommended by the Crime Prevention Diagnosis Team of the Incheon Western Police Station. The creation of mural streets is regarded as a successful public-private cooperation model contributing to residents' safety.
