Korea-Indonesia Sign MOU to Establish 'Digital Government Cooperation Center'... Sharing Expertise
Indonesian Government Resumes Cooperation with Korean Government... Continues Commitment to Complete Government Innovation
Korea to Dispatch Experts Locally for 3 Years Starting July
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on the 25th that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Indonesian Ministry of Administrative Reform to establish the 'Korea-Indonesia Digital Government Cooperation Center.' The signing ceremony was held online in cooperation with the Korean Embassy in Indonesia.
By 2019, Indonesia, through cooperation with Korea, enacted a presidential decree to promote digital government and established the foundational systems. As a result, Indonesia achieved a significant improvement in the UN e-Government Survey rankings, rising 19 places to 88th in 2020 compared to 2018.
Following these achievements, the Indonesian government has continuously expressed its intention to resume cooperation with the Korean government to complete government innovation based on digital government.
According to this memorandum of understanding, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety will establish the 'Digital Government Cooperation Center' with the Indonesian Ministry of Administrative Reform and transfer Korea's digital government development experience by December 2023. The government plans to dispatch experts to Indonesia from July this year for three years to support the development of Indonesia's digital government.
Additionally, the government plans to support Korean companies in securing digital government-related projects by promoting various cooperative projects, such as the 'Establishment of Indonesia's Government Digital Transformation Strategy.' Trust in Korea's digital government also significantly contributed to a domestic company winning a 100 billion KRW scale Indonesian national tax administration system project recently.
