Jeong Eun-gyeong "No Death Cases Even If Infected After Vaccination"
[Asia Economy Reporter Seo So-jeong] More than half of the COVID-19 vaccination target group aged 80 and above have received the vaccination.
The COVID-19 Vaccination Response Promotion Team (Director Jeong Eun-kyung) announced on the 24th, "Since the start of vaccinations for those aged 75 and above on the 1st of last month, more than half of the 2.25 million people aged 80 and above, totaling 1,149,000 people (based on first dose), have been vaccinated, showing a vaccination rate of 51%."
As of midnight on the day, the number of people who received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine was 3,793,000, accounting for 7.4% of the total population.
The number of people who completed the second dose reached 1,746,000, recording a vaccination rate of 3.4%.
Since the 22nd, nationwide vaccination centers have been administering the first dose to unvaccinated individuals aged 75 and above, with plans to complete the first dose by mid-next month.
The pre-registration rate for those aged 60 to 74 as of the previous day is approximately 56%, and pre-registration will continue until the 3rd of next month.
The AstraZeneca vaccine doses for those aged 60 and above will be sequentially delivered to vaccination institutions (designated medical institutions or public health centers) based on pre-registrations, and a total of 1.42 million doses scheduled for vaccination from the 27th to the 31st have been in delivery since the 20th.
On the 27th, vaccinations for those aged 65 and above will be conducted at designated medical institutions nationwide, and vaccinations for those aged 60 to 64 will begin on the 7th of next month.
The Promotion Team stated, "If you miss your vaccination turn by next month, you will have to wait until after the first dose is completed for all citizens in the second half of the year to get your turn again. Therefore, we strongly urge eligible individuals to make a pre-registration and receive the vaccination this time to protect their own health and that of those around them from COVID-19."
Pre-registration can be done online (via mobile or website ncvr.kdca.go.kr), call centers (1339 or local government call centers), etc., allowing you to conveniently select a medical institution regardless of your address.
Online reservations are available 24 hours, while phone reservations (1339 or local government call centers) can be made during weekday working hours (9 AM to 6 PM).
Director Jeong Eun-kyung of the Promotion Team emphasized, "According to the analysis of vaccine effectiveness for those aged 60 and above so far, the infection prevention effect after the first dose is 89.5%. Even if infection occurs after vaccination, there have been no reported deaths so far, indicating that the vaccination effect against death is close to 100%."
