Lee Jae-myung: "As One Among Many Roh Moo-hyuns, I Will Keep Moving Forward"
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Lee Jae-myung, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, stated on the 12th anniversary of the late President Roh Moo-hyun's passing that, as one of the many Roh Moo-hyuns, he will do his best to create a fair world without cheating and privileges.
On the 23rd, marking the 12th anniversary of the late president's passing, Lee posted on Facebook a message titled "Remembering the Person Roh Moo-hyun," praising him as "the person who, even after becoming president, liked the nickname 'Fool Roh Moo-hyun' the most and wished to be called that. A humble power who lowered himself to build a strong nation. Someone who said he would gladly listen if the sovereign people relieved their stress by criticizing the president."
He added, "Even after retiring and moving to Bongha Village, he would come out several times a day when called by the people saying 'President, please come out,' chatting and singing, willingly taking photos with each person. Politically, he might have failed, but as a human being, he was confident he did not fail. We all remember the warm, even passionate, image of the president, the most human 'person Roh Moo-hyun'."
He continued, "Even now, 12 years later, your absence is still unfamiliar. However, through this, we realize your presence," and said, "We bury the painful feelings of defeat, emptiness, anger, and grief deep in our hearts and live each day in the 'Roh Moo-hyun era' without you but full of you, embracing new hope."
Furthermore, he promised, "As one of the many Roh Moo-hyuns born after you left, for the dream of balanced development and national unity you so earnestly wished for, a fair world where one can win without cheating and privileges, a world where hard work leads to a good life, a world where no one gives up life over livelihood issues, and a world where people are treated as people, I will do my utmost to make your dream, our past and future, a reality."
