[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] The Federation of Korean Industries (FKI) announced on the 23rd, "We congratulate the successful conclusion of the Korea-US summit."
In an official statement released that morning, the FKI said, "We greatly welcome the two countries' agreement to join forces for the establishment of peace on the Korean Peninsula and the development of the Indo-Pacific," adding, "It is significant as it confirms that the Korea-US alliance is a key pillar for peace and shared prosperity in Northeast Asia, the Indo-Pacific, and beyond."
It continued, "We highly value the promises to strengthen semiconductor investment, advanced technology cooperation, and supply chain collaboration between the two countries," and added, "We strongly agree with the direction of the Korea-US alliance evolving from a security alliance to an economic alliance."
Furthermore, it stated, "We welcome the two countries' agreement to cooperate in overcoming the global pandemic crisis," calling the vaccine partnership between the two countries "a very meaningful achievement," and expressed hope that "this will provide an opportunity to overcome the economic difficulties caused by COVID-19."
