[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] Chinese social networking service (SNS) Weibo has reportedly taken action against 'irrational fan culture' towards idols, sanctioning multiple Korean group fan accounts including those of Bangtan Sonyeondan (BTS).
According to a Weibo announcement on the 22nd, Weibo deleted related posts and suspended posting privileges for 30 days for 10 accounts that irrationally supported idols the previous day. Among these accounts, at least seven, including 'Bangtan Sonyeondanba' with approximately 1.21 million followers, were reported to be created by BTS fans. Other accounts also included names related to the Korean group EXO, and all 10 accounts had numerous posts related to Korean idols.
