Jinju-si Senior Officials Join in Donating 'Happiness Support Fund'
Voluntary Participation Continues for Consumption Promotion and Pain Sharing
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Senior public officials at grade 5 and above in Jinju-si, Gyeongnam, have joined in donating to the 'Jinju-si Happiness Support Fund.'
According to the city, 98 senior public officials at grade 5 and above, including Mayor Jo Gyu-il of Jinju-si, have agreed to donate the happiness support fund of 100,000 KRW per person provided by the city to the scholarship fund called the 'Future Generation Happiness Fund.' Public officials at grade 6 team leader level and below are also expected to voluntarily participate in the donation.
This donation by the city's senior public officials holds greater significance as it is voluntarily made to help revive the local economy facing difficulties due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and to share the burden of hardship.
The donation will be promoted by using the happiness support fund to stimulate consumption, and deducting an amount equivalent to the support fund from the June salary.
Previously, last year, the city's senior public officials voluntarily donated 200,000 to 400,000 KRW monthly to the Future Generation Happiness Fund and others for four months from April to July.
Mayor Jo said, "I am grateful to the senior public officials who voluntarily participated in the donation to revive the local economy," and added, "I hope the happiness support fund will warmly reach citizens struggling due to COVID-19 and become a pillar to help them stand up again."
