Gwangju Fire Headquarters, Physical Fitness Test for New Firefighter Recruitment
For 208 Written Exam Passers... Final Passers Announced on August 31
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] The Gwangju Metropolitan Fire Safety Headquarters announced on the 17th that it will conduct the 2021 physical fitness test for newly recruited firefighters from the 17th to the 20th at the Dongnim Multipurpose Gymnasium.
The physical fitness test will be conducted for 208 candidates who passed the written exam, divided into groups of about 40 people in the morning and afternoon during the test period to prevent COVID-19 infection.
The physical fitness test measures six events: grip strength, back strength, sit and reach, sit-ups, standing long jump, and shuttle run. Candidates must score at least 30 points (50%) out of a total of 60 points, with each event worth 10 points, to pass.
To ensure fairness, all measurement events will be video recorded, and doping tests will be conducted on 5% of all candidates.
After the physical fitness test, the remaining recruitment schedule will proceed in the order of aptitude test, document screening, and interview test, with the final 70 successful candidates to be announced on August 31.

Yang Young-gyu, head of the city’s Fire Administration Division, said, “We will conduct a fair physical fitness test that all candidates can accept the results of,” adding, “Since physical fitness is an important part of field activities, the evaluation of each event will be conducted according to the principles.”
