Samyoung ENC Signs Digital MF/HF Transceiver Supply Contract with Suhyup Central Association
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyungsoo Park] Samyoung ENC announced on the 17th that it signed a supply contract worth 2.5 billion KRW for digital MF/HF transceivers with the National Federation of Fisheries Cooperatives on the 14th.
Following the 100 distant fishing vessels equipped with digital MF/HF transceivers during last year's pilot operation, Samyoung ENC will exclusively supply the devices to 700 vessels this year.
By installing the newly introduced ship communication equipment, digital MF/HF transceivers, which help prevent ship accidents and enable rapid rescue operations, the real-time location of fishing vessels can be confirmed even at sea more than 100 km away from the shore. Data communication including location information, fishing performance, weather, and fishery information is possible.
Until now, only voice communication was possible at sea more than 100 km from the shore, making data communication difficult and limiting the management of fishing vessels using location information.
As part of the Korean-style e-Nav (marine navigation) construction project with the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries last year, Samyoung ENC established the world's first long-distance maritime digital communication network (D-MF/HF) and will begin full-scale equipment supply to distant fishing vessels starting this year.
According to the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, with the global implementation of e-Nav services, the existing analog maritime traffic information service system will be replaced by a digital system, and within the next 10 years, approximately 290 trillion KRW of the ship operation, shipping, and shipbuilding-related markets are expected to transition to the digital maritime traffic information market, including next-generation navigation communication equipment. Starting this year, through the Korean-style e-Nav construction project?including next-generation navigation communication equipment (e-Nav ship terminals), next-generation operation platforms (e-Nav service systems), and LTE-M communication networks (up to 100 km at sea)?the world’s first commercialization and implementation of e-Nav services will begin. It is expected to secure a leading position in navigation communication equipment and next-generation communication technologies, which were previously dependent on Japan and Europe.
