Mickelson has appeared in the US Open 29 times, finishing as runner-up six times without a victory. This is the record for the most second-place finishes in the tournament's history. From 1994 to last year, he only missed the US Open in 2017, when the tournament's opening day coincided with his daughter's high school graduation ceremony. This year, the event will be held over four days starting June 17 at Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego, California. For Mickelson, who was born in San Diego, this US Open is taking place in his hometown.
