564 New COVID-19 Cases Yesterday... Weekend Effect Brings Numbers Back to 500s
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Soyeon] As the spread of COVID-19 continues, the number of new confirmed cases on the 9th recorded in the mid-500s.
The Central Disease Control Headquarters announced that as of midnight on that day, there were 564 new confirmed COVID-19 cases, bringing the total to 127,309.
This is a decrease of 137 cases from the previous day (701 cases), dropping from the 700s back to the 500s just one day after rising to the 700s. The 500s range was last seen two days ago on the 7th (525 cases). This is due to a decrease in the number of tests conducted over the weekend.
Regarding the infection routes of the new confirmed cases on that day, 522 were locally transmitted and 42 were imported from overseas.
By region, Seoul had 191 cases, Gyeonggi 144 cases, and Incheon 11 cases, totaling 346 cases (66.3%) in the metropolitan area.

Non-metropolitan areas reported a total of 176 cases (33.7%), including Gyeongnam 30 cases, Ulsan 28 cases, Jeonnam 24 cases, Gyeongbuk 19 cases, Jeju 17 cases, Busan and Chungnam 10 cases each, Chungbuk and Jeonbuk 8 cases each, Gangwon 7 cases, Daegu and Gwangju 6 cases each, Daejeon 2 cases, and Sejong 1 case.
