Pro Baseball Games in Jamsil, Incheon, Suwon, and Gwangju Canceled Again Due to Fine Dust
All First Games of Doubleheader Scheduled for 2 PM Canceled
Second Games to Be Decided After Monitoring Standby Status
Total of 9 Games Scheduled for the 9th
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] As the concentration of fine dust soared due to yellow dust, the first games of the doubleheaders scheduled to be held in Jamsil, Incheon, Suwon, and Gwangju were canceled.
The KBO canceled the first games of the doubleheaders scheduled from 2 p.m. that day: Jamsil LG Twins vs. Hanwha Eagles, Incheon SSG Landers vs. Kiwoom Heroes, Suwon kt wiz vs. NC Dinos, and Gwangju KIA Tigers vs. Doosan Bears. A doubleheader refers to playing two games against the same team in one day.
Games originally scheduled on the 7th in Jamsil, Incheon, Suwon, and Gwangju were canceled, and those games were rescheduled as doubleheaders on this day. However, due to fine dust, the games were canceled again, so it was decided to hold the games as doubleheaders on the 9th.
This is the first time since the KBO established regulations for game cancellations due to fine dust in 2018 that four regular league games have been canceled simultaneously.
The KBO decided to determine whether to hold the second games of the doubleheaders scheduled for 5 p.m. that day after monitoring the air quality. The Ministry of Environment issued a yellow dust crisis alert at the 'caution' level from the 7th to the 8th for 14 cities and provinces including Seoul, Incheon, Gyeonggi, Gangwon, Sejong, Chungbuk, Chungnam, Gwangju, Jeonbuk, Jeonnam, Daejeon, Gyeongnam, Gyeongbuk, and Jeju.
With the first games of the doubleheaders postponed twice, a record nine KBO League games will be held in one day on the 9th. Doubleheader games will take place at four stadiums in Jamsil, Incheon, Suwon, and Gwangju, and the Samsung Lions vs. Lotte Giants game will be held in Daegu.
