New COVID-19 Cases Return to 700s After 10 Days

On the 8th, the Central Disease Control Headquarters (CDCH) announced that the number of new COVID-19 cases as of midnight was 701. This is an increase of 176 cases compared to the previous day (525 cases). The cumulative number of confirmed cases stands at 126,745.
The number of new cases surpassed 700 for the first time in 10 days since the 28th of last month (769 cases). The daily new cases had been in the range of 400 to 600 for a while but showed an increasing trend again after Children's Day.
The sources of infection for the new cases are 672 local transmissions and 29 imported cases. Various large and small cluster infections are occurring nationwide.
