Seoul Urban Youth Flower Truck Sells Flowers to Support Floriculture Farms at 11 Nonghyups
From May, Consumer Promotion Event to Support Flower Farmers at 11 Seoul Nonghyup Branches
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The urban youth flower truck, fostered by the Seoul Metropolitan Government, announced on the 6th that it will promote flower consumption events to help flower farms struggling due to COVID-19 and events to spread the culture of companion plants in collaboration with Seoul Regional Nonghyup and the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education throughout May.
Recently, with graduation and entrance ceremonies canceled due to COVID-19, flower farms have faced difficulties. To support them, a 'Flower Consumption Promotion Event' will be held from May to June at 11 branches of Seoul Regional Nonghyup.
This 'Flower Consumption Promotion Event' is a project linked with the 'Urban Youth Mobile Flower Market,' which operates to create youth jobs, aiming to help Seoul flower farms suffering from a sharp decline in sales and livelihood difficulties.
In particular, to support flower farms, the Seoul Regional Headquarters of the Nonghyup Central Association and local Nonghyup branches including Yeongdong Nonghyup, Songpa Nonghyup, Namseoul Nonghyup, Gangseo Nonghyup, and Gyeongseo Nonghyup have provided 11 branches free of charge as venues for the 'Flower Consumption Promotion Event.'
In this event, to celebrate May, the month of family, and to relieve citizens' green thirst exhausted by COVID-19, the flower truck will sell companion plants such as carnations, bouquets, and air-purifying plants. Flower sales will comply with social distancing, and safety rules such as wearing masks and providing hand sanitizers will be observed. Zero Pay payment is also available.
Additionally, together with the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education, from the 4th to the 20th of May, the month of youth, the 'Visiting Flower Truck Life Respect Campaign' will be promoted to support the psychological quarantine of students feeling depression and anxiety due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
The visiting flower truck will directly deliver companion plants to about 5,000 students through 15 middle schools and the out-of-school youth support center, Chingurang.
