Changwon City "No Illegal Parking or Stopping in School Zones"
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] Changwon City in Gyeongnam Province will launch a campaign to promote the prohibition of illegal parking and stopping in school zones starting from the 11th, as fines for illegal parking and stopping in these zones will be increased.
Fines for passenger cars will rise from the current 80,000 KRW to 120,000 KRW, and for vans from 90,000 KRW to 130,000 KRW, which is three times higher than on regular roads.
Accordingly, the city is promoting the fine increase by posting banners around 210 designated school zones, as well as through the city’s website, CCTV electronic billboards, and SNS.
In addition, the city announced that it will conduct intensive crackdowns on illegal parking and stopping within school zones and actively utilize the resident reporting system to do its best to prevent traffic accidents involving children.

Choi Youngcheol, Director of the Safety, Construction, and Transportation Bureau, said, "Illegal parking and stopping in school zones are the main causes of traffic accidents involving children. We will do our best to continuously secure safe school routes through enforcement and guidance."
