119 Paramedics Prioritize Patient in Ambulance Traffic Accident...Carrying Stretcher Despite Injuries with Fighting Spirit
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-ju] When a 119 ambulance overturned in a traffic accident, the paramedics on board attracted attention by demonstrating a fighting spirit, carrying the patient on a stretcher to the hospital despite their injuries.
According to the fire authorities on the 3rd, at around 11:50 a.m. that day, a 119 ambulance collided with a passenger car at the intersection in front of Uijeongbu St. Mary's Hospital in Geum-o-dong, Uijeongbu City.
As a result of the accident, the ambulance overturned. On board were two paramedics from the Uijeongbu Fire Station, Han (41) and Kim (29), who were transporting a patient injured in a construction site fall accident.
Although the two paramedics were also injured in the collision, they judged that the destination hospital was not far and that the transport could not be delayed.
They decided to carry the patient on a stretcher and transported the patient about 200 meters, including a steep uphill path, from the accident site to the hospital while carrying the stretcher.
It was reported that about 10 nearby citizens also helped the paramedics.
Later, the 119 paramedics also received medical treatment, and it is known that none of the two paramedics or the transported patient were seriously injured.
