This introduction of eco-friendly electric vehicles is the first in the food industry and is part of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management. The vehicles introduced are Chevrolet Bolt EV models.
The scale of introduction is about 380 vehicles, which will be distributed to sales representatives nationwide in two phases in May and June. To charge the business electric vehicles, 90 chargers have also been installed at the headquarters and 11 branches nationwide.
Lotte Food sales representatives drive an average of over 20,000 km per person annually during their sales activities. Electric vehicles do not use fossil fuels while driving, reducing greenhouse gas emissions such as nitrogen oxides and carbon dioxide generated during sales activities. It is expected that more than 2,000 tons of greenhouse gas emissions will be reduced annually through this electric vehicle introduction.
The introduction of eco-friendly electric vehicles was also aimed at improving the working environment of sales representatives in addition to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. To increase satisfaction and safety compared to the generally provided compact cars, subcompact hatchback vehicles were provided.
Lotte Food is also considering converting its ice cream delivery vehicles to eco-friendly electric vehicles beyond this introduction. They plan to comprehensively examine whether there are any issues with ice cream management conditions such as the operation of freezing equipment.
