Amid the fourth wave crisis, the district decided to deliver masks along with a cooperation letter requesting all 350,000 residents to comply with quarantine rules, emphasizing the importance of self-quarantine and raising awareness.
The masks being distributed are KF94 masks, with approximately 3.5 million masks allocated at 10 masks per person.
Mask distribution will take place from April 30 to May 3, with community leaders visiting households to deliver the masks. If residents are absent after 2 to 3 visits, a notice will be posted, and masks can be collected at the local community centers from May 4 to May 10.
On the 30th, when distribution began, Mayor Kim Seon-gap visited the mask distribution sites in Guui 3-dong and Junggok 4-dong areas to encourage the community leaders volunteering to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
He also visited various community centers to hold meetings with residents, including the heads of the Residents' Autonomy Association, the Community Leaders' Council, and the Integrated Quarantine Council.
During the meeting, Mayor Kim explained the current COVID-19 situation in Gwangjin-gu and gathered ideas from residents to build a more thorough quarantine system.
Mayor Kim Seon-gap said, “I would like to express my gratitude to all residents who are quietly making efforts in their respective places to prevent local infection spread. Please strictly adhere to the basic quarantine rules such as wearing masks, social distancing, and prohibiting private gatherings of five or more people.”
He added, “If there are any gaps in the Gwangjin-gu quarantine system, please feel free to suggest your opinions to the district office. If residents and the district office pool their wisdom together, we can overcome the COVID-19 crisis.”
