Imsil-gun Intensifies Crackdown on Illegal Fishing Activities at Okjeongho Lake
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Nosik] Imsil-gun, Jeonbuk, announced on the 29th that it will conduct intensive crackdowns on illegal fishing activities and littering to preserve the water quality of Okjeongho, a wide-area water source, and to supply clean water.
As illegal fishing activities are expected to increase in spring, the county plans to form and operate two inspection teams using environmental patrol boats, focusing on areas frequently visited by illegal fishers such as Unam Bridge and Seongeori.
In addition, 23 Okjeongho water source guardians will continuously monitor from environmental surveillance posts installed in each Okjeongho zone and respond promptly through the inspection teams if illegal activities are detected.

A county official stated, “Fines will be imposed according to the Water Environment Conservation Act if illegal fishing is caught in Okjeongho, and we will continue to strengthen crackdowns to preserve the water quality of Okjeongho.”
