Doosan Mobility unveils new drone product resistant to harsh weather at Korea's largest drone exhibition
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] Doosan Mobility Innovation (DMI) announced on the 29th that it will showcase the actual model of its new product 'DS30W,' developed to withstand harsh weather conditions such as wind and rain, at Korea's largest drone exhibition.
DMI stated that it will participate as the main company at the '2021 Drone Show Korea,' held at BEXCO in Busan from today until July 1st.
The 'DS30W' unveiled by DMI at this exhibition features enhanced wind resistance compared to previous models, capable of withstanding average wind speeds of 12 m/s and gusts up to 15 m/s. A DMI official explained, "Considering that strong wind advisories are generally issued at wind speeds above 14 m/s, DMI's SooSo drone can perform missions even in severe weather."
Additionally, it has obtained an IP43 rating for waterproof and dustproof capabilities, ensuring durability to fly in harsh environments such as heavy rain and dust. Other improvements include ▲increased flight range (average 45 km → 60 km) ▲easy assembly of arm and landing gear ▲enhanced fastening strength between parts ▲reduced power consumption due to improved airframe efficiency, according to DMI.
On the 29th and 30th, Professor Lee Gukjong of Ajou University, the leading authority in trauma surgery in Korea, will give a lecture at the DMI booth on the ease of performing maritime missions with the SooSo drone. Professor Lee, who successfully conducted life-saving flight training with DMI and the Coast Guard in Boryeong, Incheon, Jeju, and Busan last year, will deliver a lecture titled "Why Long-Endurance Drones Are Necessary for Maritime Missions" for visitors.
